Who we are
Our website address is: https://footballanalytics.co.uk.
Football Analytics Project (FAP) is a data-driven platform delivering live football data, analytics, and data engineering content. The site connects to a server-side proxy to fetch football data from football-data.org. This proxy does not collect or store any personal data about visitors.
Football Analytics Project is currently operated for educational and portfolio purposes, demonstrating real-world data engineering practices. It is not a commercial service at this time. This policy will be reviewed and updated before any commercial features or services are introduced.
What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website saves to your browser when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work properly and to remember your preferences between visits.
This page explains exactly what cookies Football Analytics Project uses, why they are used, and what they mean for you as a visitor.
We Keep It Simple
Football Analytics Project currently uses only essential cookies — the minimum required for the website to function correctly. We do not use advertising cookies, behavioural tracking cookies, or any third-party analytics tools that monitor how you use this site.
You will not be profiled, tracked across other websites, or have your browsing behaviour sold or shared with advertisers.
Cookies Currently in Use
The following cookies are the only ones present on this site. All of them are strictly necessary and functional — none of them track your behaviour or collect personal information.
PHPSESSID
Type: Essential / Session
Duration: Until you close your browser
What it does: This is a standard session cookie used by the server to maintain your browsing session while you navigate the site. It contains no personal information and is deleted automatically when you close your browser.
wordpress_test_cookie
Type: Essential / Temporary
Duration: Discarded immediately
What it does: WordPress sets this cookie briefly when you visit certain pages to check whether your browser accepts cookies at all. It contains no personal data and is removed straight away — it never persists in your browser.
Admin and dashboard cookies
Type: Functional / Internal use only
Duration: Varies
What it does: WordPress sets several cookies when a site administrator logs into the dashboard — including login verification and display preference cookies. These are only ever set for the site administrator and are never placed on a regular visitor’s device. If you are visiting this site as a regular user you will never see these cookies.
Our Football Data Widgets Set No Cookies
The live football data displayed on this site — including World Cup match results, group standings, and top scorers — is fetched through our own secure server-side proxy hosted on Render. This proxy passes data directly to your browser for display purposes only.
No cookies are set as a result of loading or viewing any football data widget on this site. No data about you is sent to football-data.org or retained by our proxy server.
Do You Need to Give Cookie Consent?
Under UK PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) and UK GDPR, websites are only required to ask for cookie consent when non-essential cookies are in use — such as analytics or advertising cookies.
Because Football Analytics Project currently uses only strictly necessary and functional cookies, we are not required to display a cookie consent banner at this time. No consent is needed for cookies that are essential to the operation of the website.
This will change if we introduce any non-essential cookies in future — for example if Google Analytics or advertising tools are added. In that case this page and the site’s cookie banner will be updated accordingly before those cookies go live.
Third-Party Services
This site connects to two external services as part of its football data functionality:
football-data.org — provides the live football data displayed on this site. Your browser does not connect directly to football-data.org. All requests are routed through our server-side proxy, meaning football-data.org does not receive any information about you as a visitor. Their privacy policy is available at football-data.org/privacy.
Render — hosts our server-side proxy. When your browser requests football data, that request passes through Render’s infrastructure. Render may retain standard server-side request logs, which can include technical information such as timestamps and request volumes. Render’s servers may be located outside the United Kingdom. Their privacy policy is available at render.com/privacy.
Neither of these services sets cookies in your browser or tracks your behaviour on this site.
Changes to This Policy
Football Analytics Project is an actively developing platform. As new features are introduced — including potential analytics tools, user accounts, comment functionality, or embedded third-party content — this cookies policy will be reviewed and updated before those features go live.
We will not introduce non-essential cookies without updating this page and, where required by law, providing a consent mechanism first.
The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last reviewed.
Your Rights and How to Contact Us
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to ask what data we hold about you, request its correction or deletion, and object to its processing where applicable.
Because this site currently collects no personal visitor data through cookies or football data widgets, there is very little we would hold about you unless you have contacted us directly or left a comment on a blog post.
If you have any questions about how this site uses cookies or handles your data, please contact us through footballanalytics.co.uk.
